Traditional style sourdough made with wholemeal spelt flour.  Cold-fermented to achieve maximum flavour and health benefits!

Please note all loaves of bread come sliced, and sealed in a plastic bag.

*Please note: our bread is baked the day prior to delivery to allow time to pack and ship.  In addition, our delivery vehicles are refrigerated, to ensure pies and sausage rolls stay at the right temperature for food safety.  So, when your Shepherd's bread arrives at your house, it might feel 'firm' to the touch, which can make it seem stale.  Rest assured, if you leave it on the bench to return to room temp, it will feel a lot fresher in no time!  If, however you like to freeze your bread, go ahead and pop it straight into the freezer to maintain max freshness as soon as it arrives.

Ingredients

Wholemeal wheat flour, Water, Leaven, Spelt wholemeal flour, Wheat gluten, Iodised salt, Malted wheat flour.

Disappointing Changes

The removal or Organic Spelt flour and addition of wheat flour makes me unable to use Shepherds bread any more. We used to buy at least one loaf every week.

Disappointed with Shephards Sneaky Change

This spelt loaf used to be 100% spelt flour. This was perfect for my son who has a wheat alergy. He can tolerate spelt wheat, but not other forms. Then within the last 6 weeks Shephards changed the ingredients to not only add wholemeal wheat, but now have it as the main ingredient. Yet the loaf still costs the same. So we have now been ripped off twice. Way to go Shephards. Get on the greed wagon with everyone else.
Beyond disappointed.

Hard to get - Real food

I’ve been buying this bread for years and because of distance it hasn’t and presently isn’t easy for me to come by. It’s the only bread that actually tastes like food not some chemical cocktail. It has a decent shelf like and can be bought sliced. Sadly the biggest problem is communication. This company just does not answer emails, private messages, their Instagram and Facebook pages offer nothing recent. I’d love more up to date information about where and when I can reliably get this bread without driving half way across Sydney. A suggestion: Take a look at what Goodwood’s bakery are doing on Instagram. You could at the very least keep people up to date with markets you’re going to be at. I live in the eastern suburbs and the deli I was buying this bread from has recently stopped selling it. What do I do now?

Nice loaf

Probably prefer it to be uncut
