Our traditional, cold-fermented sourdough loaf made with wholemeal flour.

Wholemeal bread is a good source of fibre – a diet higher in fibre reduces the risk of bowel cancer, helps digestion, and may help people feel fuller, avoiding weight gain.

Please note all loaves of bread come sliced, and sealed in a plastic bag.

*Please note: our bread is baked the day prior to delivery to allow time to pack and ship.  In addition, our delivery vehicles are refrigerated, to ensure pies and sausage rolls stay at the right temperature for food safety.  So, when your Shepherd's bread arrives at your house, it might feel 'firm' to the touch, which can make it seem stale.  Rest assured, if you leave it on the bench to return to room temp, it will feel a lot fresher in no time!  If, however you like to freeze your bread, go ahead and pop it straight into the freezer to maintain max freshness as soon as it arrives.

Light texture and nothing much else

I thought that the darker I go in dough the more flavoursome the loaf would be. Not this loaf. I thought the dough would be dense and take longer to toast but quite the opposite. This bread felt and tasted like a tip top white loaf with nothing much to offer. Very disappointing. Also, I purchased the chicken and leek fricasse and this would have to be one of the most tasteless pies I have ever had. It was bland, had shiitake mushrooms which are not suitable in a dish like this and could have used some mustard and seasoning to lift the flavour a bit. Overall think I will stop my business here.

A bit dry

I normally buy this at one of your markets and it’s usually fresh and lovely. Had this home delivered last week as we are in lockdown and it was not fresh at all, seemed a couple of days old. Using for toasting only.
